This year the Trinidad chair by Nanna Ditzel and Fredericia celebrates 25 years and I was of course very excited to be asked to style it. You can see the chairs below in my dining and living room. They fit in perfectly, don’t you think? They not only look good, but they’re comfortable too. I chose to style them in grey, but they also come in several beautiful wood finishes and optional seat upholstery. You can find out more here.
When designing the Trinidad chair, Nanna Ditzel found inspiration in the elaborate fretwork from the so-called Gingerbread Facades, that she had often seen whilst on a holiday in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad.
“On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?” – Nanna Ditzel
Nanna Ditzel was nicknamed the “First Lady of Danish Furniture Design” by the Scandinavian Furniture Fair, so for her designs to be a part of the Fredericia brand couldn’t be more appropriate. The Trinidad chairs fit in so well with the rest of the minimal handcrafted collection. The chairs are made in Denmark, and as usual the craftsmanship by Fredericia is impeccable. Every little detail is made to perfection.
