Now we’re set to enjoy some warmer weather, we’ve been sprucing up our outdoor seating area. The decking has had a coat of black stain to protect the wood and I’m on the hunt for super minimal garden furniture to give it a contemporary update.
This gorgeous penthouse roof terrace in Stockholm caught my eye and is similar to the look I’m working towards. Let me show you around…
I love the idea of having an outdoor kitchen area for entertaining, especially with those incredible views across the city skyline. To be able to be spontaneous and BBQ dinner on the fly up on the terrace is the idea of a perfect summer for me. It’s clever how the architects have continued the metal roof cladding on to create a splashback in the kitchen. It really compliments the industrial feel of the grey slate floors and larch decking.
That cosy seating area definitely has my name on it – from the square wooden frames to the slubby linen seats. The perfect spot to kick back with a glass of something chilled and a good read. What plants they have chosen are grouped together in weathered concrete and terracotta pots which stand out against the black too.
Of course, the absolute crowning feature of this outdoor terrace is the wood-clad jacuzzi. Could you see yourself soaking up the sunset views from there? I actually don’t think I’d need to leave the house for anything!
