Tuesday Tips – Kitchen herb garden

5/06/2014

Last weeks Tuesday Tips was all about creating urban jungles, well this weeks tip is too. Today I’m showing you how to create a herb garden in your kitchen. It’s even possible if you do have limited space. I’ve used two hanging baskets, a mixture of great smelling aromatic herbs, some compost and our curtain rails.

It’s really easy, you get a selection of herbs and plant two or three in each pot. Try to give them a bit of space to give them a chance to grow. These plants should last a long time and give you wonderful flavours to your food. Fresh herbs are fantastic, so try to get a selection of the ones you frequently use.

I got Coriander, Basil, Sage, Thyme, Mint, Parsley and Oregano.

If you prefer to make your own hanging baskets you can of course do that. DIY here. Once the herbs are all planted and given a drink of water, they are ready to be hung up.

Instead of getting the herbs mixed up, I decided to label them. I got some copper tags and wrote all the names of the herbs with a black marker pen.
Still really please I insisted on moving from France to Scotland with our industrial trolley (it’s seriously heavy).
Hope you’ve been inspired to create your own herb garden. It’s possible even with limited space! Our herbs are not in the way at all and will add some really nice flavours to our food.
