Tuesday Tips – Moving…

7/23/2013

So a lot of you know that we’re moving from France to Scotland. My simple tip is start packing EARLY and I mean really early. I started going through things weeks ago. I always underestimate how much we’ve got and it’s taken a lot longer than I imagined it would. As you probably know it can be really stressful to move house. Like I said we’re not just moving down the road, but we’re moving to a different country. We’re moving from our 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom (rented) apartment where we will stay for a while, but we don’t know how long. We’ve had to sell, donate and recycle quite a lot. It also means we’ll be moving again in a few months time.. (oh no!) At least we won’t have 42 degrees when we move in Scotland.. It’s probably more likely to be raining and of course we won’t have so many things.

After some very hot,  long days of packing I’m afraid this is all I can manage as a Tuesday Tip today. I promise my tip next will be more substantial. I’m exhausted!

I like your Tuesday Tip 🙂 I spent weeks emptying the cupboards, donating, selling … I feel like I did nothing but that! And my husband still thinks we have way too many things … Good luck with the new house/apartment in Scotland. Our lives are pretty much the same right now. I feel less lonely 🙂 take care xx

I wish I had received this advice before my last move… I wasn't ready at all! Then again, those who know me would say it's no such surprise.
I would add another advice: don't stop unpack until you're done or you will be stuck with boxes around for months I know, I did ^^ )

Thanks, Mia! I'll remember that! hx

  13. Hello Hege…First of all I would like to say good luck for your move. Wish I would have read your article before the 24th of July. I know moving is exciting because in a new place there is chance to meet with new people but on the other hand it is also stressful. So Just pack well and also label them as they will help you while unpacking items.

  14. Planning in advance for everything is very necessary, Make a schedule for everything and follow that. It is one of the best way to get to your move hassle free and with ease. All the best for your move!

  15. Wow! Moving to another country you say? You have a tough job ahead of you. Goodluck! I hope you write down everything you intend to do on your move. Writing things down will help you remember what you have to do prior to the move, during the move and after the move.

  16. Hi Hege! It's been a while ago since I've been at my computer. Now I'm back, blogging 😉 And I read that you are moving to Scotland!!! Wow! I wish you all the luck and a good time packing! Love Lisanne
