I’ve been turning my attention to cosying up our home for Christmas, introducing warm walnut dining chairs and newly launched sleek table and floor lamps from Carl Hansen & Son. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’m all for a minimal Christmas with lots of fresh greenery. With this being a very different year, we’ll only be the three of us for Christmas.
Come on in and take a look…
The Hans J Wegner CH23 Dining Chair
These beautiful walnut dining chairs create a soft and inviting look in our dining room. They bring a touch of warmth to the space with its natural materials and I can’t wait to sit here in the mornings with my coffee and a scented winter candle.
Its organic shape and natural woven cord seat are actually influenced by a lounge chair. Hans J Wegner designed it for Carl Hansen in 1950, but only made it to the technical drawing stage.
It was only in 2016 that Carl Hansen & Son decided to work with the Hans J Wegner Design Studio to bring this chair into being. The CH23 is a gorgeous addition to the collection. It’s available in 7 materials and colours.
MO Lighting Collection
With the days getting shorter and darker, it’s crucial to get the lighting right and build on ambience. I’m not a huge fan of stark over-head ceiling lights, so lamps and candles are my absolute go-to.
The new MO lighting collection is designed by Mads Odgard and is his first collaboration with Carl Hansen & Son. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Odgard spent his time surrounded by the original drawings of Hans J Wegner and Borge Mogensen.
And when your predecessors are such legends of Danish design, it’s no surprise that some of that sense of vision would find its way into your work.
Odgard’s lighting collection consists of a table, pendant and floor lamp in powder-coated black or white steel. It has a minimal, functional, and timeless appeal which illustrates his love of straight lines and geometric shapes. It looks totally at home styled on our sideboard or illuminating a table as you can see here. I really enjoyed my simple wreath making, especially as it was done in this beautiful lounge chair, the CH26. I’ll show more about this chair soon.

Have you already decorated for Christmas? I prefer to start slowly, but this year I’ve started much earlier than normal and I get the feeling a lot of you have too.
