Danish studio New Works are all about the contrast between light and dark. I absolutely loved their newly opened showroom when I visited Copenhagen for 3 Days of Design.
I wanted to share with you the latest Spring News 2021. The new pieces have taken on a calm and earthy feel and I can’t get enough of that beautiful marble.
The Kizu Lamp
Its most popular lamp, the Kizu, created by Norwegian designer Lars Tornøe has been launched with a new dark grey marble base. Known for its bold yet understated style, the lamp is an elegant balance of sculptural weight and feather-soft diffused light.
The smooth Gris du Marais marble base is made from recycled offcuts, making it an environmentally friendly material. Described by New Works as “the kissing point”, the shimmering marble base contrasts against the white shade balanced on top.
Florence Coffee and Side Table
Joining the New Works Florence collection are two new style options in the coffee and side table. Already available in clear glass and wood veneer, the Gris du Marais brings a more muted and earthy feel to the design.
It’s a balance of raw, angular steel offset with the visual lightness of polished marble which I love. The light plays beautifully in the sparkling veins and ingrained crystals on the surface. They look harmonious styled together, their different heights offering subtle interest, a space to display treasures in your living space.
I’m most impressed with the new marble as a recycled material, aren’t you? So many new and innovative materials are emerging from a need to be more sustainable and I’m happy to see this continue in the design world.
