Stockholm Design Week The Sculptor’s Residence

2/17/2020

A definite highlight from my trip to Stockholm Design Week this year was The Sculptor’s Residence. A collaboration between Dux and Menu curated by Copenhagen-based architecture and design studio Norm Architects.

I was invited to a talk and I couldn’t agree more with what was said. When brands collaborate you can actually enhance the value of a product. A table looks fine on it’s own, but styled with an iconic a lamp for example it can look so much better. Why are brands so scared to collaborate?!

This stunning apartment with large windows, would be perfect for an artist. We got to explore and see new items from both Dux and Menu. They have both worked with Norm Architects to create new products this season, and it was so good to see them in a “real” setting.

“The Sculptor’s Residence, an exclusive apartment atelier installation that transforms a period property into the eclectic home of an artisan collector.”

The apartment was located in the heart of Stockholm and features beautiful original details. Staged in a way an artist would live, there were craft materials, open books, rolls of paper, ceramic pieces, paintbrushes en masses, all next to timeless modern furniture.

I’ve already written a blog post about news from Menu this Spring Summer, you can find it here.

I’ve been following Atelier Armand and Sofia Tufvasson Instagram for a while, so it was nice to see more of their beautiful work too.

I visited in the morning, so the photos are a little moody, but I quite like that.

Thank you to Trengruppen PR for the press invite.

In my next post I’ll show you what I discovered at Stockholm Furniture and Lighting Fair.
