Superfront Launches Elegant Wood Collection for IKEA Units

2/11/2021

Stockholm based kitchen designers Superfront continue to inspire us to revamp our IKEA kitchen units with their new Wood Collection.

These clever kitchen fronts are designed to fit with standard Metod, Pax and Besta IKEA kitchen units. It’s a far more affordable way to update an existing kitchen with a bespoke feel and by choosing from a range of handles, no two kitchens will be the same. It’s the perfect IKEA hack.

This calm and harmonious collection is made from ash wood veneer, known for its beautiful grain. The fact that the fronts aren’t solid wood means they’re far less likely to warp over time, essentially extending the life of the kitchen. And as one of the biggest investments in our homes, we don’t want to have to replace it again after a few years.

Drawing on the textured furniture trend, the cabinetry includes a vertical slatted design which for dimensional interest. Alternatively, there’s a smooth option if you’re looking for a more traditional look. I’m sure you’ll love this dark wood kitchen styled so well with ceramics in beige shades and the fabulous hanging lamp designed by Muller Van Severen. It all looks so timeless.

– We always design with sustainability in mind, whether it’s through creating design that encourages recycling of Ikea cabinets that already exist in millions of homes – or from an aesthetic point of view. This mindset has resulted in what many refer to as timeless design, but also in a conscious use of materials that last over time and age well, says Monica Born, one of Superfront’s two founders.

Treated with a UV resistant lacquer to avoid fading, the fronts come in a selection of six shades; from Alabaster which is a classic, pale Scandinavian wood to Thunder Wood Grey and Willow Wood Green.

This is exactly how designing our homes should be – a simple and enjoyable experience, functional and completely beautiful. I think this is a great way of adding colour and personalising our homes.
