A Simple Spring Table Styled for Easter

4/04/2021

I have so been looking forward to the arrival of spring here in Scotland that I gave myself an Easter table styling project to celebrate. There’s just something about the sunshine and longer days that makes you feel full of inspiration. To me, spring always conjures up a fresh start. Read on to find out how you can setup a spring table.

How to set up a spring table

A crisp white tablecloth, a must for any spring table, becomes a base on which to layer this look. No table is complete without greenery. The garden is still getting started here but signs of life are peeping through. I’m lucky enough to have the choice of several mature trees in our garden. So I made use of a couple of budding branches from a weekend pruning session for the centrepiece.

You might spot the new HAY W&S Chamber vase that I wrote about recently, too. I just couldn’t resist it for its beige colour and unusual 3D printed porcelain design. So clever!

Add simple, minimalist decorations to your spring table

I’ve treated myself to a few pieces from the new Arket homeware collection including this speckled stoneware plate. Perfect for little nibbles, it reminds me of speckled eggshell and I love its irregular shape.

These Georg Jensen Cobra plates that I got last summer have become a staple in our home. Their simple white design makes them ideal for special occasions and the every day. I don’t really believe in saving things for best – after all, if you love something, why not use it every day?

A table definitely feels more inviting when it’s relaxed and informal so I’ve added a playful nod to Easter with these deep green paper egg decorations. I’ve hung them from the branches but you could also use them to tie around napkins and place on each plate as a sweet gift for your guests.

It’ll just be the three of us this Easter as we ease out of lockdown here but however you choose to celebrate, I hope these ideas have inspired you to throw your own little party this spring. We need it!
